As my first ever amp build, I decided to go with the Fender Deluxe Reverb. The Deluxe Reverb is one of the most famous amps of all time. It offers a wide spectrum of sounds from heavenly cleans to beautiful tube breakup. It also has a two tube reverb circuit and a roach powered tremolo.
This means that at low volumes (2-4) This amp offers a clean, high headroom sound at not too loud volumes, as this amp is only 22 watts. At medium volumes (4-7), this amp offers a slightly compressed and overdriven sound, perfect for lead lines. This is the sound that all of your favorite overdrive pedals are trying to simulate. At high volumes (7-10), this amp offers an extremely overdriven, extremely compressed sound perfect for lead tones. This is one of the most recorded amps of all time, which mean it must be good :). This amp has a two tube spring reverb. In this case, this means that there is a 12AT7 tube with the triodes in parallel pushing a Spring reverb tank. This reverberated signal is then pushed by a set of two 12AX7 triodes, and is then injected into the signal. This amp is also equipped with roach powered tremolo. What this means is that instead of just the 3 tremolo oscillation caps inducing the tremolo into the signal, a roach (consisting of a photo resistor and an LED) powers the signal. For information on how these two effects work, check out Rob Robinette's website.
I chose this amp for a few reasons:
